lizard fish

Lizard fish hide then zig zag to lunch.

Lizard fish are similar to sand divers. At first they look cool, but in reality they are fearsome with dozens of razor sharp teeth. They only eat live fish. You can not feed them or make friends with them. If you scatter food in front of them they will just wait for some small fool fish to come just close enough to be lunch. They like to hide in the sand by vibrating their bodies so they settle down and the sand flows around them. From this superior vantage point they lie in wait. I have seen them nail fry at the surface with lightening speed and pathway. They do not go straight to lunch, but rather travel in random left, right, left gotcha fashion. They are common inside the reef line and often get caught by folks fishing from land
